Track & Field & Cross Country Coach at ACTIV8TE SPORTCAMPS INC.
As an athlete, Ally has worked with 5 different coaches all with different training philosophies. This allowed her to see a wide range of approaches to track and cross country training, and recognize that different programs work for different athletes.
In high school, Ally worked with a coach that focused on speed and low mileage.
At University in the US, the focus was on high mileage and a lot of racing and her experience was that these coaches didn’t focus on her indvidual athletic development as the training was a cookie-cutter model with every athlete doing the same program. Some athletes thrived, others, like Ally did not.
Dealing with constant injury within that training she did not have the success she had hoped for during her US College experience. With a redshirted year in the US, Ally still had one more season of eligibility when she left the Univesity of Idaho. This allowed Ally an amazing opportunity to run track and field at SFU while completing her teaching degree. The SFU coach was more focused on speed, and this brought a ton of success. Shaving 50 seconds off of her 5000m time by the end of the year, Ally made it to Nationals.
She learned that this type of training program was much more suited to her development timeline as an athlete. It also allowed her to fall in love with the sport all over again and want to continue competing post-collegiately. Through these experiences, adaptation and flexibility to find the right fit for the athlete became important pieces of her own coaching philosophy. What works for one athlete may not work for another, and it is up to the coach to be flexible and creative to best fit each athlete. The right fit in training allows the athlete to succeed, which therefore fosters confidence and a love for the sport.

Ellen is aware that she has an important role as a female coach ad role model, and
strives to build upon this extending new, progressive training & coaching opportunities
through ACTIV8TE , for our youth, but particularly female, athletes.
Training sessions with Coach El, build from a foundation of initial functional movement
review and correction. Teaching Movement Preparation skills and focusing on
improved movement function for optimum speed agility and quickness.

disfunction, that can and will result in injury. While training with Coach EL, athletes,
learn how to train for their body, learn to understand and apply learning methods that
support athletic competence and build self confidence. Building training methodologies
for each individual that provides them with a platform for individual success.
Building Confidence and Competence as key components in their training, your
athlete(s) will learn how to slow down, break down and then rebuild movement
patterns successfully, identify and correct bad habits, so that athletes understand the
How What When Where and Why of each aspect of their specific training plan and
sport, and a develop healthy more holistic relationship to their body and sports activity.

Karlee joined the ACTIV8TE team having recently returned from playing professionally abroad, gaining a wealth and variety of experience having spent the past 5 years playing in Sweden, Israel, Romania and most recently Portugal. Playing in an array of countries and playing styles allowed Karlee to grow in many different aspects of her play including being able to bring those experiences back to Canada to share them with young players
Whilst in Europe Karlee competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) tournament in two consecutive years which gave her the opportunity to play not only at the top level but also facing some of the best players in the womens’ game playing across Europe in many different match-ups.
Karlee grew up in Abbotsford, BC and played locally until she graduated University. She played as a left back/winger for the University of the Fraser Valley and completed all 5 years of eligibility. During her time at UFV she was a part of the team that finished 4th at the USports (formerly CIS/SIC) National tournament.
As a strong, explosive, player, Karlee attributes her success to hard work and determination. Karlee did not have a linear path to success and understands that at any level a player can find success if they’re willing to work hard enough.
As a coach, Karlee therefore understands the importance of developing balance between the technical, tactical, physical and mental preparedness in your training plan.
Karlee works with players to help them understand the game and the individual nature,
and opportunity within their personal athletic journey, on all levels in order to support them to better grow as both individuals and teammates.
Karlee’s passionate about helping players with their understanding of their position and role within the team — both on and off the field. as well as working on technical and tactical position development, her training incorporates speed and strength building understanding that the balance between physical strength, psychological well being and athletic mobility are key factors in Karlees philosophy.
Karlees playing career and non-linear pathway from grassroots > University > Professional
play overseas makes Karlee is the perfect addition to the ACTIV8TE Coaching &
Mentorship team as she believes, as we do, that young athletes should have access to
role models and mentors who’ve traveled the path ahead of them. and who can help
them prepare, and understand how. to forge their own athletic journey — whatever
pathway that takes.
