BONDtraining dryland training programs are designed to build a better cycling athlete. It takes aim at improving participants’ strength, resilience, focus, mobility, endurance and power.

DID YOU KNOW

- A more fit rider has a bigger window of time in each ride to improve their skill?

- The less fit rider will tire out sooner and as a result has a smaller window of quality time in each ride to acquire and improve their skills.

- A fitter, stronger rider not only has improved control but is also less prone to injury compared to a less fit, equally skilled rider?

- With appropriate programming individuals can significantly improve their power output, without gaining muscle mass, resulting in an improved watts per kilogram(W/Kg) - an important indicator of performance for cyclists?

The MTBdryland winter programs through a focused commitment of two hours per week, will help you reach new levels in your riding. Let’s ‘level up’ YOU in preparation for your best season of riding. The MTBdryland Summer program offers 1x or 2x per week options that are designed to enhance your peak riding season. Many of our clients continue through the summer during their competition/performance training phase, or simply as part of a maintenance training plan.

The HYBRID program is where the MTBdryland program meets the PUMPtrack and combines the fun and physical exertion of intervals on the indoor pump track & jump lines matched with off-bike segments to build cardio, strength, core, power, mobility & resilience. Training is offered at the North Shore Bike Park offered monthly through the summer and in 6 week training phases throughout the Winter, with options for 1x or 2x per week.

STRUCTURED FRAMEWORK

Each DRTdryland program is designed to align rider development with the BONDtraining_DRT seasonal framework:

  • Phase 1 OFF SEASON (Foundation Builder),
  • Phase 2 PRE-SEASON (Power Prep),
  • Phase 3 RACE SEASON (Competition Ready),
  • Phase 4 POST SEASON (Reset & Recharge).
AGE & STAGE

Each DRT program is designed to align rider development with the LTAD framework & athletic development phases

Ages 5–7: FUNdamentals Program

Play, Balance & Confidence on & off the bike

During this stage, the focus is on building movement literacy through fun, play-based training. Kids develop balance, agility, and coordination while learning to love being active

Ages 7–9: FUNdamentals → Learn to Train Program.

Building confidence speed & skills through FUN

During this phase riders refine their movement skills and begin to build the foundations of speed, coordination, and skill execution. Structured training is introduced.This is the window where speed and skills are most trainable, and we maximize it!

Ages 10–12: Learn to Train Program.

Strong Foundations, Explosive Growth

During this phase riders build on skills and begin more structured training. Riders develop core strength, agility, and the ability to handle more demanding sport-specific drills, preparing them for competition.

Ages 12–14: Train to Train Program

Bulding the Engine for Performance

During this phase riders move into structured training that develops endurance, strength, and enhanced tactical skills. This is where we set the stage for long-term performance by ‘building the engine.’

Ages 15–18: Learn to Compete / Train to Compete Program

Peak Performance, On Demand.

_During this phase programming is for riders ready to push toward peak high performance. Training focuses on speed, power, resilience, and race execution. Riders learn to perform when it counts.

SUMMER TRAINING

  • The Summer edition offers a fantastic opportunity to come and try out the gym training sessions, in advance of a larger 6-month Winter program commitment.
  • The Summer edition is designed to enhance rather than replace the time you are spending riding.
  • Summer Sessions are offered as a “maintenance” program during your peak ride/race season to support and balance with increased time on the bike
  • Summer training can be booked monthly, with both 1x & 2x a week options
  • Drop in is offered subject to availability month to month.

OFF-SEASON TRAINING

The MTBdryland Winter edition requires a 6-month program commitment (Nov-Apr) Training 2x / week in a single timeslot.

While the MTBdryland training program is optimized for participants training 2x/wk for 6months (48 sesions) - we understand that not everyone is able to make that commitment work.

For the 2025/26 season we are testing a 1x/week program option in SELECT training timeslots.

  • Spaces subject to availbility & program viabilty
  • If 1x/wk sessions are sold out in your preferred timeslot - we encourage you to connect with us so that we can review allocations or alternate timeslot options for you.

NOTE:Participants registering for the 1x/wk program - should understand that they are electing to participate in 50% of the programming, (24 sessions).

Why Mobility Matters for Cyclists

Mobility & Strength training are the secret weapons for stronger, faster, injury-resistant riders. By improving joint range of motion, stability, and muscular balance, you not only boost power transfer on the bike but also recover faster between rides.

Our Monday morning MTBmobility sessions are the perfect way to start the week, loosening up tight muscles, activating key cycling movement patterns, and setting you up to get the most out of your MTBdryland training later in the week. Think of it as hitting “reset” for your body so you ride and train at your best.

HYBRID combines the fun and physical exertion of intervals training, matched with off-bike segments to build cardio, strength, core, power, mobility & resilience.

Each 60-minute training session involves coach-led, progressive drills and intervals focused on skill development and conditioning, along with a portion of the training session spent off the bike and focused on strength, core and mobility exercises.

These fast-paced, guided sessions on the bike and the corresponding exercises off the bike will positively affect many aspects of your riding. Riders of all levels are surprised at how easily their Heart Rate ramps up and how much speed and control they can acquire as they get out of the saddle, pump, and push their bike through the terrain.

The program encourages the rider to take on the role of a pilot commanding their Rocketship rather than being a passenger on a bus. These sessions will allow participants to refine their piloting skills and improve their riding efficiency, stamina, strength and power,

HYBRID sessions provide participants with a controlled environment and feedback for a “wax on wax off” approach to skill development and skill refinement, a time to learn new skills, AND fine tune your skills foundation, correcting bad habits so that you are a stronger, faster and more confident rider.
