BONDtraining dryland training programs are designed to build a better cycling athlete. It takes aim at improving participants’ strength, resilience, focus, mobility, endurance and power. Did you know a more fit rider has a bigger window of time in each ride to improve their skill? The less fit rider will tires out sooner and as a result has a smaller window of quality time in each ride to acquire and improve their skills. Did you know a fitter, stronger rider not only has improved control but is also less prone to injury compared to a less fit, equally skilled rider? Did you know with appropriate programming individuals can significantly improve their power output, without gaining muscle mass, resulting in an improved watts per kilogram(W/Kg) - an important indicator of performance for cyclists? The MTBdryland programs through a focused commitment of two hours per week, will help you reach new levels in your riding. Let’s ‘level up’ YOU in preparation for your best season of riding. HYBRID combines the fun and physical exertion of intervals on the indoor pump track & jump lines matched with off-bike segments to build cardio, strength, core, power, mobility & resilience. The HYBRID program is where the MTBdryland program meets the PUMPtrack, training at the North Shore Bike park. Commitment of 6 weeks, with training options for 1x or 2x per week.

SUMMER TRAINING

  • The Summer edition offers a fantastic opportunity to come and try out the gym training sessions, in advance of a larger 6-month Winter program commitment.
  • The Summer edition is designed to enhance rather than replace the time you are spending riding.
  • Summer Sessions are offered as a “maintenance” program during your peak ride/race season to support and balance with increased time on the bike
  • Summer training can be booked monthly, with both 1x & 2x a week options
  • Drop in is offered subject to availability month to month.

WINTER TRAINING

  • The Winter Edition is a 6-month investment and we ask that you sign up and commit to a single time-slot, 2x/ week every Tuesday and Thursday from November to April. It is designed to achieve maximum results while allowing plenty of time and energy for you to continue your other winter activities-riding, skiing etc.

NSBMX / BONDtraining programs have been designed to support development and growth at the NSBMX track, establishing a clear development pathway, and additional training opportunities for young riders with ambition.

SPRING / SUMMER Camps

  • Our BMX Camps & Team Training programs are perfect for USABMX/BMXCANADA members wanting to boost their BMX skills, enjoy racing and build their confidence on and off the bike.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE

  • Participants must have a current USABMX/BMXCANADA license AND have a MINIMUM of 1 year bmx racing experience.

  • Riders will be grouped by ability rather than age, Limited spots available! If you are unsure if your rider is ready for this camp - please contact us to review their experience level.

  • Beginners & Younger riders are encouraged to attend the weekly NSBMX Club training sessions,

BMX CAMP ACTIVITIES

  • Camp participants will have coach-led activities designed to develop campers’ riding and racing abilities. A wide range of skills and topics will be covered, including how to train and prepare physically, bike preparation and maintenance, race strategy, mental preparation, sportsmanship etc. Riders will develop physical literacy and athletic development skills on and off the bike

  • Camp will include a range of fun drills, challenges and games every day and a few surprises along the way. We will have contingency plans in place for rain days, and will provide a sheltered area for shaded breaks on high temperature days too.


NSBMX DEVELOPMENT RACE TEAM

  • The Development Race Team Training programs are designed for riders with ambitions beyond local track racing. Riders who are already, or who are wanting to compete for overall in Provincial, National, and eventually Worlds.

  • This phased Team Training program will prepare riders individually for all aspects of competitive riding, whilst training collectively as a team, for the Race Season, with both Off & Pre Season Training & Race Season training plans, including Rider Development Clinics both on and off the bike.

  • Riders will be assessed using a set of fixed criteria that determine rider readiness, all riders must meet the minimum eligibility requirements, and will have the opportunity to participate when ready via 3 channels

Each season will include 4 training phases, within a periodized training plan designed to optimize rider performance through the entire season.

DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

Riders who are not members of the NSBMX club - interested in and ready for a focused competitive Training environment can apply to join the development training program, Riders must meet the eligibility requirements for participation which include a commitment to Provincial and National competition, Application forms and all details will be posted to the NSBMX team site.


ABOUT THE COACH

  • Jason Bond of BONDtraining (MTBdryland/HYBRID) has 20+ years of coaching experience that includes time spent with Pedalheads, Escape Adventures, Endless Biking & Ridehub. He has completed the PMBI coaching cert(L1), and the NCCP Assistant & Club Coach certifications for BMX and MTB.

  • Jason also has extensive experience racing bikes (MTB, CX, Enduro, Road and BMX) and enjoys racing at BMX events alongside the team members he is coaching in these camps and clinics, and was proud to see so many of those riders bringing home Top 3 Provincial plates this Summer at the Provincial finals, he himself securing the Provincial #1 plate for 2023 & currently sitting 9th in Canadian Nationals.

  • Assistant and guest coaches will join Jason for Camps, Clinics and Team training - these coaches will be announced by program, series.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Sessions led by professional bike coaches and trainers

  • HYBRID combines the fun and physical exertion of intervals on the indoor pump track & jump lines matched with off-bike segments to build cardio, strength, core, power, mobility & resilience.

  • Each 60-minute training session will involve coach-led, progressive drills and intervals on the park’s pump and jump lines, along with a portion of the training session spent off the bike and focused on strength, core and mobility exercises.

  • It will be a lot of fun. These fast-paced, guided sessions on the track and the corresponding exercises off the bike will positively affect many aspects of your riding.

  • Participants will be surprised at how easily their Heart Rate ramps up and how much speed and control they can acquire as they get out of the saddle, pump, and push their bike through the terrain.

  • The Bike Park environment encourages the rider to take on the role of a pilot commanding their Rocketship rather than being a passenger on a bus. These sessions will allow participants to refine their piloting skills and improve their riding efficiency, stamina, strength and power,

ABOUT THE COACH

  • BONDtraining principal & head coach Jason Bond has been training cyclists for over 20 years, on and off the bike. Jason is an experienced trainer but is primarily a passionate cyclist - with coaching and competitive riding experience in MTB, CX, Road & BMX. His high-demand winter MTBdryland program has been THE go-to off-season training program for Bike Industry professionals, and the riding community for the past 15 years.

FAQs

  • This program has limited spaces available. If registration for your preferred class time is full, please waitlist or consider alternate timeslot options.
  • Your registration includes access to the park during the BONDtraining session only - no membership required.
  • BONDtraining & North Shore Bike Park Waivers must be completed by ALL participants PRIOR to participation.
  • Minimum skill level - the ability to ROLL while standing through the green jump-line at NSBP
  • Adult & Youth Ages 15+ (contact us for options for athletes aged 11-14)
  • Riders must bring their helmet and bicycle - in good working order.
  • Gloves, knee pads and elbow pads are encouraged.
  • Bring your HeartRate monitor if you have one.
  • Dirt jump-style bikes are NOT mandatory; your trail bike will do just fine (please do not bring muddy, dirty bikes into the park)
  • Secure Bike Storage between sessions is available. Please contact us for details.
  • Dirt jump bike rentals are available on-site for HYbrid sessions at a discounted rate of $10/session
  • Flat pedals and ride shoes for use with flat pedals and floor work are encouraged.
